Dentures have long since been a staple treatment of dentists when it came to replacing lost teeth. However, as dental technologies have progressed, dentures have more and more become the exception, rather than the rule when it comes to treating lost or missing teeth with patients opting instead for alternative treatments, such as dental implants. While dentures today are much more durable and natural looking than dentures of old, they often still require fastenings or adhesives to hold them in place, and so the potential for embarrassment is always near. And, similarly to previous dentures, eating certain foods can still be problematic. Dental health, too, can be compromised. Traditional dentures don’t provide any stimulus to the jawbone or gum tissue, which in turn leads to tissue recession and weakening, and can cause further tooth loss in time. The degeneration of tissues can also lead to traditional dentures becoming loose and ill-fitting, leading to discomfort. A dental treatment called Bite Lock, which borrows its concept from a patented technique called Teeth In A Day, can help to transform dentures by providing a secure mount and support for replacement teeth; the implant dentist strategically places titanium supports into the jaw where they become fused with the patient’s jawbone in a process called osseointegration, upon which the dentures are then placed. The titanium supports help not only to maintain the stimulus of natural teeth which promotes healthy gum tissue and bone mass, but provide a solid support for the dentures, so wearers can enjoy a more stable and secure fit. The dentures themselves are fitted with a concealed titanium support bar to connect with the implants and provide greater resilience for the dentures, greatly enhancing their strength and providing the stability required to hold the teeth in place. The result is a smile that looks great, doesn’t require removal, and provides all the function of natural, healthy teeth. The worries of traditional dentures can be eliminated, and patients can enjoy their permanent replacement teeth with no fear of embarrassment or discomfort.
