Shyam Indrakanti, DDS, MD

Dr. Shyam Indrakanti was born and raised in India until he was in middle school, when he and his family emigrated to Sonoma County in California. He completed the rest of his schooling there and attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology in 2010. He then spent the next three years teaching and tutoring to help his family through financial hardship before pursuing his doctorate in dental surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, which he completed in 2017. Immediately thereafter, Dr. Indrakanti moved to Texas to pursue his training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital. He completed his medical training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, earning his medical doctorate in 2020. He completed the remainder of his full-scope surgical training in 2023 at UTSW, Parkland, Texas Health, Children’s Medical Center, Cook Children’s, and John Peter Smith hospitals, prior to joining Drs. Franco and Zaidi at DFWOMS.

Dr. Indrakanti takes part in many hobbies when time permits. He enjoys cooking ethnic and fusion cuisines, going on hikes, enjoying nature, and road cycling. He is an avid tech consumer and enjoys taking on projects, working with new gadgets, making devices, and creating digital content. He admires teaching as a noble profession and is actively creating lectures and talks for a variety of venues, both formal and informal. He also believes that informing the public of health concerns is tremendously important and is in the process of launching a podcast to disseminate such information in an accessible way. Like all good Californian’s, Dr. Indrakanti has made Texas his home and is grateful for the opportunity to serve patients in Dallas, Fort Worth, and the surrounding areas.
